You have the option of hitting your hand, standing on your hand, doubling down and splitting your pairs if you’ve been dealt a pair. Typically you’re going to be hitting or standing for most hands and ideally you want to hit when you have 15 or lower unless the dealer’s face up card is a really low valued card. If you’re dealt a natural blackjack then you automatically get paid out right away and most casinos will pay out 6:5 on natural blackjacks. If the dealer is showing an ace or ten valued card and they have the chance of hitting a blackjack they will look at there second card to see if they have a blackjack. Before they look they will offer everyone the option to buy insurance. Insurance pays out 2:1 typically which means if the dealer does have blackjack you get paid 2:1 on your insurance bet. Ideally most professional blackjack players will recommend that you never buy insurance when you play blackjack because it gives the house a big advantage over the long run.

The blackjack online dealers hand always needs to follow set rules in place for the given casino. Most casinos will make the dealer hand stand on 17 or higher. This means that if they have a 17 they are forced to stand even if you’re sitting with 18. These set rules that blackjack dealers need to follow make the game a little bit easier to make money. Since you know they need to hit on sixteen if they are showing a six then chances are good they will bust the hand so you should double down.
